The Los Angeles Dodgers had a busy offseason that included signing Teoscar Hernández to a new contract. However, he is now on the injured list.
The Dodgers placed Hernández on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a groin strain. Manager Dave Roberts noted that he will be inactive for a significant amount of time.
"He’s going to be inactive for a while," Roberts told reporters on Tuesday. "I don’t know a timetable. That’s all contingent on when he starts back up again. Unfortunately, we’re going to lose him for a little bit.
However, Roberts had better news on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times' Jack Harris. He even revealed a potential timeline for him to return to the lineup.
"Dave Roberts had a more encouraging update on Teoscar Hernández today, saying he could be back in as little as two weeks if he progresses well," wrote Harris on X.

Hernández has a .315/.33/.600 slash line this season. He has nine home runs and 34 RBIs as well. He was a key player for the Dodgers in their World Series run and they rewarded him with a three-year, $66 million deal in the offseason.
He is a two-time All-Star and three-time Silver Slugger. Losing him was a huge blow for the team. The team called up James Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take his place. Outman has played 209 games for the Dodgers. He was third in National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2023, but has failed to establish himself. He will be asked to help carry the load while Hernández recovers.
