The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have made an effort to bolster their bullpen with a new signing on Thursday.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, Miguel Castro is coming to the Angels on a minor league contract, which will presumably have an invite to big league spring training.
Castro is a 6-foot-7, 31-year old right-hander originally from the Dominican Republic.
He came up through the Toronto Blue Jays' system as a starter, but he has made only four starts in his MLB career.
Castros has pitched for the Blue Jays, Rockies, Orioles, Mets, Yankees, Diamondbacks and White Sox.
He had a rough 2025, getting only six games in at the MLB level with Chicago and allowing five earned runs in 6.0 innings.
His career ERA is a more palatable 4.24.

Castro strikes out 8.0 batters per nine innings in his MLB career, although his 4.6 walks per nine has held him back.
Aside from his time with the White Sox in 2025, Castro pitched in 17 games with Triple-A Sugar Land (Astros system), where he had a 2.29 ERA.
He has pitched in the Dominican Winter League this offseason and has a 6.14 ERA in eight outings for Toros.
There's no guarantee Castro amounts to anything for the Angels, but he has just enough history of success at the MLB level that it was a worthwhile flier to take on a low-risk signing.
