Despite the slew of injuries throughout the roster, the Houston Astros are one of the best teams in baseball this season. The Astros can look to add a few different positions at the MLB trade deadline, with a left fielder, second baseman, and a lefty bat the top needs.
But, for Zach Pressnell of Fansided.com, the Astros and general manager Dana Brown should look elsewhere to bolster the roster for a postseason push.
With the MLB trade deadline less than a month away, Pressnell has a clear message for Brown and the front office: "The one thing they can't do right now is panic." Pressnell wrote.
After ascending to the top of the AL West, despite a plethora of injuries and lackluster production from stars, the Astros are, in the words of Pressnell, "in a very, very good position right now."
The team is atop the AL West and in a great spot to make the postseason. It's impressive that the team has done so with all of the injuries they've dealt with. Those injuries and the players' struggles make their record look a lot better than it is.
If the team can do this well with a banged-up roster, making drastic changes at the trade deadline to land a player who'd take over for an injured starter doesn't make sense. Brown and the front office need not panic, and the trade deadline should be a success.

After the All-Star break, the Astros could get Jake Meyers, Jacob Melton, Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Pena, Cristian Javier, Luis Garcia, Spencer Arrighetti, J.P. France, Chas McCormick, and many others back on the roster.
Those 'additions' can take the place of any potential trade deadline pickups. Instead of panicking and overpaying for a player, the Astros should look to hold onto their pieces and aim to get better by getting healthy.
While the Astros will likely look to add a left fielder, second baseman, and/or a lefty batter at the deadline, not overpaying for such an addition is the right path for Houston to take.
The team has done incredibly despite the injuries, and overcorrecting now would hurt the future and potentially the present of the Astros. Pressnell's overall message for the Astros is simple: Don't panic.
