The Houston Astros are looking to put to bed a disastrous 2025 season. It was the first time since 2016 that they failed to make the postseason, and they are looking to make it back in 2026.
The front office has its work cut out for it as it heads deeper into the offseason. They will look to acquire a frontline starting pitcher to help bolster the rotation.
The club is also looking to bring in a left-handed hitter in their lineup, likely an outfielder, as the infield is pretty crowded. But with limited financial flexibility, the club may look at bringing in players via a trade.
ESPN insider lists Astros slugger as potential trade chip this offseason
There are multiple players the Astros could look at trading this winter. One player that plenty have already mentioned is Jake Meyers, but he is not the only one.
ESPN's Jeff Passan lists Christian Walker in a group of players that could be moved elsewhere over the winter.
The Minnesota Twins could be a team to watch here. They already have had interest in Walker, and he could help bolster the club's offense moving forward.
Another team that could be interested in Walker's talents is the Chicago White Sox. They have been dangling Luis Robert Jr. For some time, and Walker, along with some others, may be enough to sway the White Sox to letting him go.
Walker comes into the offseason with high value. He played in 154 games during the 2025 season, hitting.238/.297/.421 with 27 home runs and 88 runs batted in.
Walker also has a solid glove to back up his power at the plate. He is coming off a season where he produced a.995 fielding percentage and could greatly help another team looking for help at first base.
