Under two hours from the MLB trade deadline, the Houston Astros have swung two huge deals. The first was to reunite with Carlos Correa from the Minnesota Twins, and the second solves their outfield issue.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Astros are swinging a deal with the Miami Marlins for outfielder Jesus Sanchez. The Marlins' 27-year-old is a left-handed bat that general manager Dana Brown has been looking for, and can lock down left field for the Astros.

In return for Sanchez, the Astros are sending pitcher Ryan Gusto, a 26-year-old starter who has a 4.92 ERA this season. He started 14 games for the Astros in 2025, and also appeared in 24 total, which includes some relief appearances at the beginning of the year.

The new Astros outfielder is under control through the 2027 season and is a left-handed batter that the team needed. Through his 86 games this season, Sanchez has a .256 batting average with a .740 OPS and a 104 OPS+.

He has 78 hits, 40 runs scored, 12 doubles, four triples, ten home runs, and 36 RBIs this season. In his big-league career, which spans six seasons, Sanchez has a .736 OPS and a 100 OPS+, meaning he's a career league-average hitter.

For the Astros, who have had inconsistency at the position, the addition of Sanchez will help the team round out the outfield and bolster the offensive approach from the left side of the plate.
