It seems like most Houston Astros fans would be content with allowing Christian Walker to move on, which makes sense after his first season with the organization. When the Astros signed Walker, the hope was that he would continue being one of the best first basemen in baseball.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and moving his contract could be a wise decision.

There are also other players the Astros could trade this winter, and according to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden, the team is not only trying to move on from Walker but is also attempting to trade Jake Meyers.

"The Cardinals will move Brendan Donovan, the Giants will listen on Bryce Eldridge, the Padres are shopping Jake Cronenworth and Nick Pivetta, the Astros are trying to move Christian Walker and Jake Meyers, the Royals will move a starter for a power-hitting left fielder and the Red Sox will trade Jarren Duran if they get the right corner infielder or starting pitcher," Bowden wrote.

Meyers is a tough player to evaluate in some ways.

He’s shown flashes of being a solid big-league player, but overall hasn’t been great. He doesn’t offer much power, which limits his upside, but as a fourth outfielder, there are far worse options for teams looking to improve their depth.
