The Houston Astros, amid their pursuit of a new third baseman, were linked to various options. But the Astros landed one of the most interesting ones they could.

According to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, the Astros are swinging a massive deal with the Minnesota Twins for Carlos Correa. It's a reunion after a few years away from the team, and now the Astros have their new third baseman.

It's a stunning deal, with the fan favorite Correa returning to where he began his career in 2015 as a 20-year-old. Correa spent his first seven years in Houston, where he amassed 34 WAR, 781 hits, and 133 home runs.

He spent the last four seasons in Minnesota, where he has had some shaky years, including his most recent season. So far in 2025, Correa has a .267 batting average with a .704 OPS, the lowest of his big league career thus far.

But, the potential he's shown, including hitting .310 in 2024 with a .905 OPS, along with his incredible resume over the last decade, is an exciting addition to the Astros roster.

His role on the team will be at third base, where Isaac Paredes, who could potentially miss the rest of the season, had been locking down. His injury, which might be season-ending, had the Astros involved in the third base market.

While Correa isn't a typical third baseman, he has agreed to play the position and is also waiving his no-trade clause to rejoin his old ball club.

It's a reunion after four years apart, and it comes at an opportune time, as the Astros need to add to their roster amid all of the injuries they've dealt with this season.

At 30 years old, Correa rejoins the Astros and is slated to be their third baseman. The return heading to Minnesota is unknown, as is how much money the Astros are taking on, but the deal is a huge one and signifies the Astros are all-in this season.
