The Detroit Tigers could use a few upgrades on offense and defense before the offseason concludes.
Parker Meadows had a.621 OPS in 58 games, and Wenceel Perez had a.738 OPS in 100 games. Riley Greene is the star of the trio, but Detroit may need an experienced veteran to round out the outfield.
Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter noted on Monday that Harrison Bader would be a logical target for the Tigers.
"Parker Meadows and Wenceel Perez have both shown flashes of impact potential during their time in the majors, but neither has established himself as a reliable option over a full 162-game season," wrote Reuter. Adding a veteran to the outfield mix, ideally one who can handle center field, would put less pressure on that duo and leave the team better prepared to navigate potential injuries."
Bader finished last season strong with the Phillies
Bader is a free agent and hit a career high of 17 home runs in 2025 with the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies. He had an.824 OPS after a mid-season trade to Philadelphia, and provided quality defense in center field.
After Bader's strong season, he turned down a mutual option for 2026 with the Phillies. Could the Tigers be a suitable fit?
Although he's had his fair share of injuries, Bader is someone who could be in a starting role or a pinch-hitter against right-handed pitching off the bench. He had a.689 OPS against left-handers and a.845 OPS against right-handers this past season.
