The Detroit Tigers seemingly haven’t shut the door on anything, including the possibility of moving Tarik Skubal in a blockbuster trade.
For now, the Tigers are in a position where they have to listen, at the very least. They might not be desperate, but the reality will start to sink in. Skubal will not return to this team after this season, and it’s almost a given.
While it remains uncertain what will or won’t happen, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that trading him still “remains a possibility.”
“Dealing Skubal remains a possibility. Beyond that, the Tigers could look to make another bullpen addition,” he wrote.
If Skubal gets moved, it’s tough to say there’s a perfect package out there. The Tigers already have an elite farm system, and not to say prospects are a bad thing, but how many do they really need?
At the same time, the bullpen report is important. If Skubal doesn’t get moved, they’re looking to add and attempt to win, something that should be a given with him on the roster.
