MLB's free agency is finally here, as eligible free agents set to hit the open market can start signing with new organizations on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Detroit Tigers have a big offseason ahead after being eliminated in the ALDS by the Seattle Mariners last month. Starter Jack Flaherty already announced he would be exercising his 2026 option to remain with the Tigers. The big free agent for the Detroit Tigers this winter is second baseman Gleyber Torres.

Gleyber Torres receives $57 million contract prediction
ESPN insider Kiley McDaniel recently released a big board for free agency and included his contract predictions for the top 50 free agents. Tigers' second baseman Gleyber Torres was included in the projection article and received a three-year, $57 million deal, according to McDaniel.
Torres is also eligible for a qualifying offer, which is worth $22 million, that he could also accept if the Tigers extend one out to him.

Gleyber Torres had a quality 2025 campaign, but his production slowed in the second half of the season. Over 145 games, he smashed 16 home runs and posted an OPS+ of 108, which is slightly above average. Torres is a three-time All-Star, and certainly showed the Tigers' front office that he can be a valuable player in his first year with the team.
The Tigers are also expected to be in the mix for other free agents, as they should be. After an epic collapse in the AL Central, Detroit became a wild-card team in the last week of the season, and it was clear that improvements can be made to this roster.
