The Detroit Tigers were dealt some unfortunate injury news on Friday afternoon, as their trade deadline pickup in the bullpen, Kyle Finnegan, was placed on the injured list. It's a tough blow for the Tigers, as he's been incredible for the team this season.

But as part of the Tigers' announcement of the Finnegan placement on the injured list, there was an activation of an outfielder who's missed over a month of game time this season due to injury.

The Tigers announced that outfielder Parker Meadows was activated off the injured list after dealing with a quadriceps issue, which has held him out since July 28th. It's a nice boost to the Tigers' lineup, as he's looking to bounce back from a rough start to the year.

Tigers Activate Parker Meadows for White Sox Series

With the Tigers welcoming the White Sox to Detroit, the team is also welcoming Meadows back into the lineup, as he's starting in center field for the Tigers and batting ninth in his return to the lineup after missing over a month.

Before hitting the injured list, Meadows had played in 38 games from the beginning of June to the end of July. He hit .200 in the time, with a .566 OPS across 125 at-bats.

His 56 OPS+ was significantly worse than his 2023 (94 OPS+) and 2024 (107) totals. In his limited time playing for Detroit this season, he's managed 25 hits, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, and nine RBIs with 12 walks and 40 strikeouts.

MOREOne Jack Flaherty statistic that should concern Tigers fans

While his batting average ticked up a bit in July, sitting at .220, he didn't manage to hit a home run, and knocked in just two RBIs during the 16 games he played in that month.

The 25-year-old outfielder has struggled a bit this season, but with a reset and the injury behind him, he'll look to start off strong now that he's back in the lineup.

Detroit lost a key reliever ahead of the White Sox series, but the return of Meadows could help the Tigers' lineup going forward. His postseason performance in seven games, hitting .269 with an .806 OPS, could be a nice addition to the Tigers' lineup if he can turn things around after coming off the injured list this season.
