The Detroit Tigers have seen a few different players emerge as quality contributors over the years, but as is the case, not all panned out into full-time Major Leaguers.
One of the strongest cases of such a situation happening came with outfielder Akil Baddoo. He broke out in 2021, but since then, he hasn't made a profound impact on the Tigers.
He hit free agency this winter, and according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Baddoo is signing a one-year free agent deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ex-Tigers breakout outfielder signs with Brewers
"Outfielder Akil Baddoo in agreement with Brwers on major-league contract, source tells @TheAthletic," Rosenthal reports.
The 27-year-old outfielder broke out during the 2021 season with the Tigers, hitting.259 with a.766 OPS in 124 games for the Tigers.
He began the 2021 season off incredibly hot, as through the first eight games of the 2021 season, Baddoo hit four home runs and had 10 RBIs with a.391 average and a 1.443 OPS.

He cooled off a bit over the next 32 games, hitting just.193 with a.675 OPS through the end of May. While he bounced back to finish with respectable numbers, that 2021 rookie season was the best of his MLB career.
Baddoo played in just seven games with the Tigers in 2025, recording two hits in 17 at-bats with one double, one RBI, and one walk with a.343 OPS.
The Brewers are signing Baddoo on a one-year Major League deal to add depth to their outfield, just like he provided for the Tigers in 2025.
While he didn't pan out in Detroit after his one-hit-wonder 2021 rookie season, Baddoo is an interesting player who's worth taking a flier on.
