The Colorado Rockies have a lot of work to do.
But at least from a vibes perspective, it's fun that they've still got a former No. 1 overall pick on their MLB roster.
They ensured that by reaching a salary agreement on Thursday to avoid arbitration with Mickey Moniak.
According to Ari Alexander, the Rockies will pay Moniak $4 million to play for them in 2026.
Thursday was a key day, because if terms weren't reached on this day, Moniak would've gone to the oft-times contentious arbitration process.
Moniak was the top pick in the 2016 MLB Draft out of high school in California by the Philadelphia Phillies.

He was eventually traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The 2025 campaign was Moniak's first with the Rockies, and he hit the ball very well.
In 135 games, he had 20 doubles, eight triples and 24 home runs. He batted.270 with an.824 OPS.
Moniak is 27 years old (he'll turn 28 in May), so this conceptually is the prime period of his career.
The Rockies need a lot more to go right to return to contention, but at least they've got Moniak starting to realize some of his potential.
