It has been a tough couple of years for the Colorado Rockies and their fanbase. They have missed the postseason for the last seven seasons in a row.
They do not have the biggest payroll, and with their altitude at home, they are not a favorite destination for many pitchers or hitters. Pitchers do not want to sign there in fear of bloated numbers at Coors Field, and hitters do not like transitioning from the high altitude at home to the average altitude at other MLB parks.
So, the offseason has not been a huge factor in Colorado. And so far, that has not changed. They have made just a handful of moves that have not been earth-shattering.

Rockies receive high offseason praise despite lackluster deals
Many of the moves the Rockies made so far this offseason may not be guys that the fanbase is too familiar with. They claimed Keegan Thompson off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds, acquired Brennan Bernardino in a trade with the Boston Red Sox, and claimed Troy Johnston and Garrrett Acton off waivers.
However, despite these not being too big of names, CBS Sports' Dayn Perry and Mike Axisa gave the Rockies a "B" for their offseason effort so far.
"What they needed more than anything, though, was to get away from the insular and antiquated operating philosophy that pushed the Rockies to their current depths. They did that by hiring Paul DePodesta as the new lead decision-maker back in November. DePodesta isn't exactly an up-and-comer, but he's drastically more contemporary-minded than the Colorado status quo he displaces."
What gives Colorado such a high grade is its decision to hire Paul DePodesta as the new president of baseball ops. He replaced Bill Schmidt and should be a breath of fresh air in Colorado.
Will they contend in 2026? Probably not, but they are headed in the right direction.
