After a miraculous late-season surge to win the American League Central, the Cleveland Guardians saw their 2025 campaign end in the wild-card round with a loss to the Detroit Tigers.
Even before that run, two-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner Steven Kwan had been mentioned in trade rumors at the deadline. Although Cleveland ultimately held onto its standout left fielder, speculation about his future with the franchise continues to circulate.
According to Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer, the Los Angeles Dodgers could be a logical trade destination for Kwan this offseason.
The Dodgers struggled to find consistency in left field throughout the 2025 season, particularly during the short-lived Michael Conforto experiment. Kwan’s elite defense and contact-oriented approach at the plate would address both needs for Los Angeles. For his career, Kwan owns a .281 batting average and has compiled 16.5 WAR. He is also on track to contend for his fourth consecutive Gold Glove Award after another strong defensive season.
For the Guardians, moving Kwan could clear the way for top outfield prospects Chase DeLauter and George Valera to take on everyday roles in 2026.
In a one-for-one proposal, Rymer suggested that Emmet Sheehan could head to Cleveland in return. The 25-year-old right-hander went 6-3 with a 2.82 ERA in 12 starts this season and remains under team control through 2029 — an appealing long-term asset for the Guardians.
