The Cleveland Guardians' playoff hopes have continued to rise as they have maintained a consistent winning pattern in September.
Cleveland has a 16-5 record in September entering Tuesday, and they will look to pass the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central to capture a second straight division title.
After recent news, the Guardians will be without one of their veteran outfielder for the rest of the 2025 campaign as he's battled a lingering injury all throughout the season.
Guardians rule Lane Thomas out for the remainder of 2025
It's been nothing less than a frustrating 2025 season for outfielder Lane Thomas. He's only been able to play in 39 games this season while battling plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Thomas has tried working his way back into rehab assignments, but he ultimately can't shake the injury.
This has resulted in the 30-year-old electing surgery to address the issue, ultimately shutting him down for the remainder of the 2025 season, MLB.com's Tim Stebbins reported.
The timeline in recovery for Lane Thomas is estimated to be three to four months, Stebbins mentioned. Hopefully, it will make him able to return for the start of the 2026 season.
In the short time Thomas has played this season, it was evident that the injury was affecting his play. He'll finish 2025 with a .160 batting average, .246 on-base percentage, .272 slugging percentage, and a .518 OPS while hitting four home runs, 11 RBI, and stealing four bases.
