The Cincinnati Reds are coming off a season where they found themselves in the postseason for the first time since the 2020 season. Unfortunately, they would find themselves facing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Wild Card, which would ultimately end their season.

With much of the offseason already past, the Reds have not done much in terms of adding players. Their biggest splash came by re-signing Emilio Pagan to potentially close out games in 2026.

Other moves the club has made are not headline-inducing. They signed JJ Bleday and Dane Myers, struck a two-year deal with Jose Trevino to pair with Ben Rortvedt, who they signed on a one-year deal. They also came to terms with Caleb Ferguson and Pierce Johnson as bullpen depth.

Although many of the game-changers who were on the open market are gone, that does not mean Cincinnati cannot add an impactful player.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller suggests the Reds could potentially turn to the Minnesota Twins in a trade for Byron Buxton in exchange for RHP Rhett Lowder and RHP Chase Petty.

"Giving up five years of Lowder and six years of Petty for an oft-injured outfielder would be a major risk for a Reds teamthat can't well afford to just buy its way out of decisions gone wrong. But Buxton would have been Cincinnati's most valuable position player by a country mile last season and could be the missing link that finally gets the Reds a postseason series win for the first time since 1995."

It could be quite a risk for Cincinnati, given the injury history of Buxton, but if he could have a healthy season, he would be a huge addition for the Reds. They need all the help they can get in a division where the Chicago Cubs just added Alex Bregman.
