Reds' Terry Francona suggests ungodly solution to run-scoring woes image

Terry Francona was joking. We think.

But with the Cincinnati Reds mired in an incredible hitting slump, their first-year manager had an idea.

“We were going to have a human sacrifice," Francona told reporters, "but nobody volunteered.”

That'd probably create some problems with the MLB Players Association.

The Reds apparently didn't need one, as they erupted for 11 runs on Saturday.

In their previous four games, they had scored 0, 0, 0 and 2 runs. But on the front bookend of that was a 14-spot.

Maybe these are just the all-or-nothing Reds.

Hopefully not all-or-nothing to the extent that anyone has to be sacrificed.
