Sal Stewart has a bright future for the Cincinnati Reds.
And on Wednesday, in the Reds' final game of the season, Stewart made some history.
He became the youngest position player to appear in a postseason game in franchise history, according to the Reds' official account on X.
Stewart played Wednesday's game at 21 years, 298 days old.
The Reds, as Cincinnati fans know well, have had absolute legends throughout their history, some of whom debuted pretty quickly, too.
But Stewart takes this mark for the playoffs, a cool sign of things to come.
Stewart got 55 MLB at bats to end the regular season after his initial promotion to the big leagues. He batted .255 with five home runs in that limited span, a great start to his career.
He's a well-regarded prospect with a lot of thump in his bat, and he's definitely a big part of what the Reds want to accomplish going forward.
Cincinnati wasn't quite ready to keep up with the Dodgers on Tuesday and Wednesday. The defending World Series champs are loaded from the top of their roster to the bottom.
It'll be guys like Stewart that can at least start helping the Reds reach the next level in the seasons ahead.
And now that Stewart already has a taste of the postseason, he'll surely want to get back for more.
