Reds make fascinating 3-team trade with Angels, Rays image

The Kyle Tucker news on Thursday night overshadowed that the Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Tampa Bay Rays got some business done, too.

That trio of teams put together a fascinating 3-team trade.

MLB.com's Martin Gallegos reported the details:

  • Angels get:  OF Josh Lowe
  • Reds get:  LHP Brock Burke
  • Rays get:  INF Gavin Lux, RHP Chris Clark

Lowe is the headliner of the deal. He's a 27-year old lefty-swinging outfielder with power and speed from the Rays.

Against right-handed pitching, Lowe has a career.772 OPS.

The Reds pick up the southpaw reliever Burke, who will make $2.325 million in 2026. He had a 3.36 ERA in 69 appearances last season for the Angels out of the 'pen.

Cincinnati got involved in this deal partly to move off Lux, who plays a lot of positions but isn't great at any of them, and who has not shown the improvement in power in his bat that the Reds would've hoped for.

The other pitcher in the deal, Chris Clark, is a 24-year old right-handed starting pitcher who has reached Double-A in the Angels system.

In summary, the Angels take a swing on a big talent, the Reds get a bullpen contributor and the Rays get a couple misfits they might turn into key pieces, as usual.
