It took Colson Montgomery a little bit of time. But the top prospect within the Chicago White Sox organization showed why Saturday night.
Montgomery, who made his Major League Baseball debut Friday after being called up, went 3-for-5 for his first three career hits in a 10-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies. He also drove in a run and helped turn a pair of double plays from his position in the field at shortstop.

The 23-year-old Montgomery went 0-for-2 in his MLB debut, recording a walk and a strikeout. He was a first round pick in the 2021 draft.
Montgomery, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 230 pounds, was a standout high school basketball player for Southridge High School in Indiana. He was offered a chance to walk-on to the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team if he elected to play baseball at the school.
Last year in the minors at Triple-A Charlotte, Montgomery hit 18 home runs in 130 games. He had 11 homers and 32 RBI this year between a pair of stops in the minors.
