The Chicago White Sox had been eying a trade like this for a while. It finally happened late Tuesday night.
They've sent away centerfielder Luis Robert Jr. In return, one of the players they received is the little brother of superstar Ronald Acuña Jr.
The full trade, via ESPN's Jeff Passan:
- Mets get: OF Luis Robert Jr.
- White Sox get: IF Luisangel Acuña and RHP Truman Pauley

Acuña is a 23-year old infielder who can play second base, shortstop and third base.
He broke into the majors in 2024 and hit.308 in 14 games.
His larger sample size in 2025 wasn't as good, just a.234 average in 95 games.
Acuña is having an insane winter in Venezuela, having hit eight home runs in 39 games, along with seven doubles, three triples and 12 stolen bases, so maybe he's starting to discover his power stroke.
He's certainly a worthy acquisition by Chicago, which will have club control of him for double as long as they had left with Robert, who has been inconsistent the past couple seasons, anyway.
The other player coming back, RHP Truman Pauley, was just a 12th-round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of Harvard.
He had a 2.08 ERA in his three starts at Single-A St. Lucie after being drafted. Pauley struck out 91 batters in 70.1 innings in his final season in the Ivy League with the Crimson.
