The last few years have not been too kind to the Chicago White Sox and their fanbase. They have struggled to get anything going during their rebuild, but there were some things that got the fans out of their seats this past season.
Colson Montgomery made his MLB debut on July 4th and showed a glimpse of what he can do with the bat in his hands. Across 71 games, the young slugger hit.239/.311/.529 with 21 home runs and 55 runs batted in.
That should pair nicely with the club's newest star slugger, Munetaka Murakami. The South Siders surprised everyone when they came to an agreement with the Japanese corner infielder on a two-year, $34 million deal.

White Sox projected to struggle despite a productive offseason
Just Montgomery and Murakami alone are enough to get some fans excited about the new season. However, they still have a few more holes they need to fill.
One of these is the bottom two starting pitchers in their rotation. It is believed they will have an internal competition for the final two spots, or they could swing the open market to see who could be available on a short-term deal.
While still having some holes and young players still developing, MLB.com's Will Leitch ranks the White Sox as the 26th-best team in the latest MLB Power Rankings.
"The signing of Munetaka Murakami might have surprised some, but that the White Sox are willing to push for him is an indication that they're ready to take the next step forward. They were a little better last year than you might have noticed. They'd like to keep that going in 2026."
The White Sox will not be a contending club in 2026, but they are taking a step in the right direction. That is all fans can ask for during its rebuilding phase.
