The overseas professional baseball leagues are becoming a production factory and place for struggling major leaguers to go and revive their careers.

That was proven Tuesday when right-hander Cody Ponce signed a multi-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Ponce did so after winning the KBO's MVP Award last season. The trend continued Wednesday with the Chicago White Sox and left-hander Anthony Kay.

According to FanSided's Robert Murray, Chicago and Kay are in agreement on a two-year contract worth $12 million. Kay has spent the past two seasons in the NPB with the Yokohama DeNA Baystars after struggling to find his footing in MLB.

Kay has 44 career major league appearances and has posted a 5.59 ERA in those outings. His time in Japan was much different, as last season, Kay set the Yokohama record with a 1.74 ERA across 155 innings with 130 strikeouts. Kay finished his two seasons in Japan with a 2.53 ERA across 291 2/3 innings pitched.

He will now return to the big leagues; a place he hasn't appeared since October of the 2023 season. Kay will hope to help a White Sox team that just two seasons ago, posted one of the worst records in MLB history.
