The Chicago Cubs are one of a handful of teams that have already clinched their postseason spot. While not being able to catch the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cubs currently hold the top Wild Card spot in the National League.
Their 89-69 record puts them two games ahead of the San Diego Padres, while San Diego has three games left, and Chicago has four. They will want to finish out the regular season strong and keep their lead in the NL Wild Card race.
Securing the top Wild Card spot secures home-field advantage for that team. And in a postseason setting, there is no denying just how important it is to be playing in front of your own fans.
Pete Crow-Armstrong embraces October 'party' vibe as Cubs near home playoff spot
There are not many ballparks quite like Wrigley Field. From a historical standpoint alone, the stadium has a lot to offer, but when you mix in their die-hard fans, it can be quite the place to play.
Pete Crow-Armstrong loves playing at Wrigley and the energy the fanbase brings. He is hopeful his team can hold its lead and bring October baseball to those fans, via Marquee Sports Network's Tony Andracki.
"Wrigley's already got it in 'em," said PCA. "Everybody shows up – they're ready to party. Everybody knows that we're getting close to October baseball, and with that feeling in the air, being able to embrace that is the most fun thing ever."
This will be Pete Crow-Armstrong's first postseason, and there is no denying he is excited about it. He cannot wait to experience the thrills and see some of his teammates returning to such a grand stage.
"Being able to give these fans October baseball, that's going to be real special. It's going to be special for me, experiencing it for the first time, and then Ian [Happ], being able to be back and doing it again."
