How long is Kyle Tucker out for? Explaining Cubs star's injury image

The Chicago Cubs have been missing their star outfielder, Kyle Tucker, for a bit. The four-time all-Star is currently dealing with a right calf injury that has kept him out of the lineup for over a week now.

Back on September 2, Tucker blasted a home run against the Atlanta Braves, but later felt some tightness in his calf. He was then removed from the game in the seventh inning.

He was hopeful to return to the lineup after just taking a few days off, but that will not be the case. Tucker was transferred to the injured list on Tuesday ahead of their game with the Braves.

Kyle Tucker moved to IL with a right calf injury

Kyle Tucker has been placed on the 10-day IL, retroactive to September 6. This means that the earliest he can return to the lineup would be on September 16, which would coincide with the second game of their three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates

However, it is still unknown if Tucker will require a minimum stay on the IL. Manager Craig Counsell spoke on the uncertainty, via MLB.com's Jordan Bastian

"At this point, I don't know," Counsell said. "I'm hopeful, but I think I was wrong in terms of avoiding the IL. We just have to get to a point where he's not symptomatic and not feeling it doing baseball activities."

The Cubs will reevaluate Tucker when he gets closer to his return date. If they see that he is symptom-free and the injury is not bothering him during baseball activities, you can expect him to be out there.
