Giants could make $400 million play for Cubs' Kyle Tucker, per Jeff Passan image

Over the past few offseasons, there hasn't been a team more interested in landing a star than the San Francisco Giants. Unfortunately, the Giants haven't been able to find said star, but they were able to trade for one during the trade deadline by acquiring Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox

The Giants have played better baseball recently, and the expectation is for them to be more than fine in the long term. The question remains for the Giants, however, whether they'll be able to attract some of the top free agents on the market.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, that could be bad news for the Chicago Cubs

Could Cubs' Kyle Tucker head to the Bay Area?

He noted that the Giants could be interested in adding a player like Tucker during the offseason.

"The number (for Tucker) is going to be big -- likely in the $400 million range,” he wrote. "The San Francisco Giants need a complement to Rafael Devers in the middle of the lineup. Others, including the Cubs, will be in the mix. The market will find Tucker, as it eventually does with the best players in every class."

Depending on how much money the Giants would be willing to give Tucker, he’ll probably end up there if the price is right.

Frankly, the Cubs could probably lose Tucker to nearly any team in Major League Baseball if the price is right.

Players want to get paid like never before, so if that happens, the Cubs will either have to match prices or come in with a serious offer.
