Ben Cowles got his start in professional baseball after being selected by the New York Yankees in the 10th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He would set a franchise record for the Hudson Valley Renegades in 2023 for consecutive games reaching base safely.

However, his time with the Yankees organization would soon come to an end when he was traded to the Chicago Cubs on July 30, 2024. He would only play in four games after the trade, as he was dealing with lingering effects from getting hit by a pitch, and to start the 2025 season, he was optioned to Triple-A.

Cowles would then learn he would be designated for assignment this past Monday. According to 670 The Score's Bruce Levine, the Chicago White Sox have now claimed the infielder off waivers.

Cowles has been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte, and he has been added to the club's 40-man roster. This roster now sits at 39, via Sports Illustrated's Jack Ankony

Ben Cowles joins an intriguing list of White Sox infielders

You cannot mention the White Sox without speaking about how great Colson Montgomery has looked this year. He has been hitting home runs at an excellent clip since being called up and making his MLB debut.

They also have Lenyn Sosa having a breakout season this year. Playing in 21 more games this season than he ever has, he has already doubled his season-high home run total.

The rest of the options for the White Sox include Miguel Vargas, Chase Meidroth, Bryan Ramos, and Curtis Mead. With Cowles being able to be optioned two more times after this stint, the White Sox have time to see if he has what it takes to stay or not.
