Cubs' Shota Imanaga reveals what he's learned about champagne with hilarious quote image

After the Chicago Cubs clinched their first postseason birth since 2020 on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Cubs' celebrated with a champagne party in the locker room.

The Cubs know there's plenty of work to do throughout the final games of the regular season and into their playoff run, but Wednesday night was about celebrating what they had accomplished.

While players were celebrated and popping champagne everywhere, Cubs' pitcher Shota Imanaga shared a secret about the bubbly beverage with Marquee Sports Network's Taylor McGregor.

Imanaga Share Hilarious Champagne Quote

Amid the postgame celebrations and champagne showers, McGregor asked Imanaga how many bottles of champagne he'd used.

The Cubs' pitcher used the moment as a chance to share what he's learned about champagne.

"Probably more than 10, and I've learned that with champagne, instead of drinking it, you should absorb it with your skin," Imanaga said, through a translator. "It feels better."

Imanaga proceeded to be showered with champagne by his teammates and say, "Yummy," into the camera.

There's always a time to be serious in professional sports, but there's also plenty of time for players to relax, be their true selves and have fun - especially after clinching a spot in the playoffs.

From manager Craig Counsell's "goal is not complete" message, to fan favorite Ian Happ's emotional postgame interview, to Imanaga giving fans a lesson on champagne, the Cubs made the most of their night of celebration.

Now, it's time to refocus for the home stretch of the regular season, as the Cubs look to fend off the San Diego Padres for the top National League wild card spot and chase the Milwaukee Brewers down for the NL Central crown, and then make their postseason run in October.
