The Chicago Cubs made a major free-agent splash when they signed Alex Bregman to a $175 million deal, stealing him from the Boston Red Sox.

Bregman is joining his third team in the last few years, after a long time with the Houston Astros and a year with the Red Sox. Bregman is coming to the Cubs on a big deal.

But that's not the only new team Bregman is joining. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Bregman announced during his introductory press conference that he's also joining Team USA for the World Baseball Classic.

Cubs' Alex Bregman joins Team USA for WBC

"Alex Bregman, who skipped the WBC last time," Nightengale reports, "announced he will play this time around for Team USA."

His addition to the World Baseball Classic roster for Team USA continues to build up what's looking like the team to beat in the upcoming tournament.

Bregman is joining a stacked roster and likely would fill in at the starting third baseman spot. Infielders Bobby Witt Jr. And Gunnar Henderson will find a way into the lineup, while Brice Turang and Ernie Clement are, at worst, incredible depth options.

Along with those infielders, Bregman is joining Cal Raleigh, Will Smith, Kyle Schwarber, Byron Buxton, Corbin Carroll, Aaron Judge, and new Cubs' teammate Pete Crow-Armstrong.

The pitching staff is also incredible, with Tarik Skubal, Paul Skenes, Joe Ryan, Logan Webb, Mason Miller, Clayton Kershaw, and a few other stars all comprising an incredible roster for the WBC.

The addition of Bregman is a quality one, as he could feature as the team's starting third baseman, with Bryce Harper at first base, and Witt and Henderson filling out the middle of the infield.

Bregman, shortly after signing with the Cubs, is also going to join another team, though it's not in the Major Leagues, and instead for the World Baseball Classic with a bunch of other MLB stars on the Team USA roster.
