As the Boston Red Sox continue searching for an answer at third base following the loss of Alex Bregman, one veteran slugger is emerging as the most realistic option left on the board.

Christopher Kline of FanSided predicted that Eugenio Suarez will ultimately sign with Boston, adding that he’s now their “best bet.”

“As the Boston Red Sox look for Alex Bregman replacements, Eugenio Suárez is probably their best bet,” Kline wrote

“We can criticize the front office for letting it reach that point, but Boston needs right-handed power and Suárez did bop 49 home runs last season. His career numbers at Fenway are tantalizing, and the Red Sox should be able to strike a one- or two-year deal that mitigates the risk associated with Suárez's age and defensive profile.”

After losing Bregman, the Red Sox don’t have to add another bat, but it’d probably be a wise decision. It hurts to think that they could go from Rafael Devers to Bregman to Suarez, but that’s the reality of the situation right now.

With his ability to pull the ball in the air, Fenway should be a nice fit for him, too.

Defensively, he’s no longer the player he once was, but the Red Sox seemingly didn’t value defense much when they let Bregman sign with the Chicago Cubs.

They’ve made it known that they do, which was the issue with Devers, but that didn’t hold true this winter.
