The Boston Red Sox seem to be feeling risky with their starting pitching in the final week of the MLB's regular season in 2025.

The team is currently one game to the good above the third Wild Card spot and is four games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the three-way battle for the AL East crown along with the New York Yankees

And even though their playoff spot doesn't have the team's name on it just yet, manager Alex Cora is already in the process of making arrangements for the postseason.

Cora To Throw Ace Crochet on Four Days' Rest

According to a report by Sean McAdam of MassLive, the Sox skipper is penciling ace pitcher Garrett Crochet to throw for Wednesday's game on four days' rest, and throwing Brayan Bello on Thursday, a six-day rest.

“That gives Bello a breather,” said Cora. “And also keeps Garrett in line for that one and hopefully, for our big one," meaning the opening game of the Wild Card Series, which as of now would see them face the Seattle Mariners

Crochet has been heavily involved in conversation for the AL Cy Young Award, along with New York's Max Fried and Detroit's Tarik Skubal, the current holder of the award, currently posting a 17-5 record, with a 2.69 ERA and a league-leading 249 strikeouts in his first season at Fenway Park, after changing his Sox color from White to Red over the offseason.
