The Boston Red Sox apparently are looking to add another catcher to their roster.
The free agent pool isn't deep at that position, but there is an old friend out there for the taking.
Christian Vasquez, who won the 2018 World Series with Boston, remains a free agent.
MassLive's Chris Cotillo wrote this on X on Thursday night:
"Red Sox remain engaged in a thinned-out catching market as they look to add depth before Opening Day. Total guess here, but if the market falls the right way, Christian Vázquez is someone Alex Cora loves and would love to have around. Again, speculation and not a report."

Vasquez was originally a ninth-round draft pick by the Red Sox in 2008 out of Puerto Rico.
He broke into the majors with the Red Sox in 2014, and he ended up spending parts of eight seasons playing for Boston, including that 2018 championship campaign.
He's a career.262 hitter with the Red Sox with 124 doubles and 54 home runs in 698 games.

He then spent the latter half of the 2022 season with the Houston Astros and won a World Series there, too.
Vasquez spent the past three seasons with the Minnesota Twins, for whom he hit just.215.
He's now 35 years old, but his veteran presence would likely still be appreciated in Boston.
As Cotillo writes, this isn't necessarily something that is happening, but it is something that would make a lot of sense.
