Jackson Holliday is a smart ballplayer. He knows exactly what advice to listen to most closely.
In this case, he listens to his dad, and that's a good call. Holliday's father, Matt, was a big-league hitting legend for the Rockies, Cardinals and Yankees.
Matt doesn't give advice often, but on April 23, Matt suggested that the younger Holliday stand more upright and keep his hands more vertical, like he had done in a hot close to the 2024 season.
Before that, Holliday was batting .213.
In the span played since then, Holliday is hitting .304. That included a particularly toward stretch in a post below that shows just how different the stance is.

Matt suggested Jackson should maybe return to holding his hands more vertically in his stance.

Holliday entered 2024 as the No. 1 prospect in baseball. But when he made it to the majors, he looked a bit overmatched. A season down the road from that, Holliday knows he's going to figure it out.
His dad will be watching, as always. Just maybe this time, he'll offer encouragement and no more, since Holliday seems to have learned his swing.
