The Baltimore Orioles could be seeing a familiar face land with a division rival this offseason, as former manager Brandon Hyde is expected to join the Tampa Bay Rays’ coaching staff in an undisclosed role, per FanSided’s Robert Murray.

Hyde led the Orioles from 2019-2025, playing a significant role in the team's resurgence throughout the 2020s. Over seven seasons with Baltimore, Hyde compiled a 421-492 record and made playoff appearances in 2023 and 2024. Despite this, Hyde did not secure any postseason victories during his time as manager for The Orioles.

Throughout his time with The Orioles, Hyde witnessed both extreme successes and significant failures, including two seasons where the team lost over 100 games, contrasted with two seasons where they achieved 90 or more wins and made it to the playoffs.

The Orioles dismissed Hyde in May 2025 following a dismal 15-28 record to begin the season. Following an extended break, Hyde is now set to join the Rays to aid in their own revival.

Following a disappointing 77-85 record in 2025, the Rays have now missed the postseason for two consecutive years, a stark contrast to their five-year playoff streak that began in 2019-2023. To reclaim their position atop the American League East, Hyde's background with rebuilding clubs could prove advantageous over time.
