On Tuesday, the Houston Astros put five players on waivers. This included Chas McCormick, John Rooney, Kenedy Corona, Luis Garcia, and Pedro Leon.

Houston was looking to make some room on their 40-man roster heading into the offseason. They are coming off their failed postseason push for the first time since 2016, and things need to change.

Barring something drastic, 2025 was likely the last time any of these players will put on the Houston orange. However, one of those players on the list is trading their shade of orange for another shade.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Baltimore Orioles have decided to take a flier on Pedro Leon.

"Baltimore is taking a flier on a post-hype prospect. Leon was a high-profile signing out of Cuba several years ago. In January of 2021, the Astros gave him a $4 million signing bonus. He was ranked as one of the top prospects in the system for the next few years."

Baltimore is hoping it can bring the best out of Leon, who has only appeared in seven games at the big-league level. However, they will have to make space for him on the 40-man roster to make this thing official.

At best, the Orioles see him as a key contributor during the 2026 season, mixing in with their group of outfielders. At worst, they can keep him down in the minor leagues until they feel confident he can compete at this level.
