The Atlanta Braves got some offseason business done early on Sunday.
They've signed Joel Payamps to a one-year contract worth $2.25 million, according to an announcement from the Braves.
He pitched his final two games of the season with the Braves.
Before that, he had spent most of the 2025 season with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Payamps has a 3.41 ERA in his MLB career.
He did struggle in 2025, putting up a 6.84 ERA in 30 games.
Payamps will turn 32 on April 7.
The 6-foot-3 right-hander from the Dominican Republic has pitched in 249 career MLB games. He has 244 strikeouts in 269 innings.
Payamps has pitched for the Brewers, Royals, Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Athletics and Braves.
In his 2.2 innings with the Braves in 2025, Payamps allowed one run and struck out two.
Payamps should open the year in the MLB bullpen. Atlanta may have gotten him for a bargain relative to what he would've been projected to get in salary arbitration.
The Braves have a lot more to do this offseason, but it's not a bad idea to keep Payamps aboard and hope he returns to form.
