The Atlanta Braves made one of their biggest offseason moves so far, signing free agent closer Robert Suarez to a three-year, $45 million contract.

With Raisel Iglesias set to retain his closer job, Suarez is poised to become a backup closer and set-up man for the Braves in 2026.

In the announcement from the Braves on this new $45 million deal, they revealed the contract details for Saurez's new three-year deal. It's not the standard $15 million per year, as Suarez will make slightly different amounts the next three years.

"The Atlanta Braves signed RHP Robert Suarez to a three-year contract worth $45 million, with the right-hander set to make $13 million in 2026 and $16 million in each of the following two seasons. Suarez has agreed to donate 1% of his salary to the Atlanta Braves Foundation."

Suarez is signing this three-year deal, and in the first year of this deal, he will make $13 million. But, over the final two years in 2027 and 2028, Suarez will be paid $16 million per season.

Will Sammon of The Athletic further revealed more contract details on Suarez's new Braves deal. It's a simple update, but the Braves and Suarez have no deferrals in the deal.

Suarez is coming off a strong 2025 season, where he had a 2.97 ERA with 75 strikeouts and an NL-best 40 saves in 70 appearances and 69.2 innings pitched.

The Braves are bolstering their bullpen, and now sport two of the better relievers in the game with Iglesias and Suarez.

There's more work to be done this offseason for the Braves, but after their $23 million Mike Yastrzemski deal and now this $45 million Suarez deal, the Braves are showing their willingness to spend this offseason.
