The hits just keep coming for the Atlanta Braves. And not in a good way like scoring runs.

Spencer Schwellenbach became the fourth member of the starting rotation to be lost for an extended period of time due to an injury. Schwellenbach suffered a fractured right elobw after experiencing discomfort during a recent start.

Schwellenbach joins Chris Sale, Reynaldo Lopez and AJ Smith-Shawver as Atlanta starting pitchers to be hurt this year. Sale suffered a fractured rib cage, Lopez had shoulder surgery and Smith-Shawver was lost for the year with Tommy John surgery.

The 25-year-old Schwellenbach is 7-4 on the year with a 3.09 earned run average and 108 strikeouts. He is tied for 15th in the league in strikeouts and tied for eighth with a 0.97 WHIP.

Last Saturday, he went seven innings vs. the Philadelphia Phillies, striking out 12 while allowing just three hits and one earned run with a walk. The Braves have won each of his last four starts, as he has gone at least seven in all of them including a complete-game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers.

In his MLB career, Schwellenbach has made 38 starts with 235 strikeouts in just over 234 innings. He made his debut last year, going 8-7 with a 3.35 earned run average and 127 strikeouts.
