The Major League Baseball trade deadline is 27 days away, creating lots of speculation about where the top trade candidates will land.

At 43-44, the Arizona Diamondbacks are in position to sell with a lot of great players on expiring contracts.

One of those players, Eugenio Suárez, is having an incredible power-hitting season and has been rumored to be on the move with every passing day.

Suárez, 33, has 27 home runs and 70 RBI while slashing .250/.318/.561 in 85 games this season.

With trade talks circulating, Suárez spoke with Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic about the rumors.

“I don’t want to leave Arizona,” Suárez said. “Obviously, we know how the business of baseball is. But right now, I feel comfortable. I feel every time we win a game, we’ve got a chance to make the playoffs. Every time we lose, maybe something like that pops in my mind. Which is not good for me. I don’t want to get traded.”

Suárez has been linked to several contenders in need of a slugging third baseman, including the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees.

The Cubs have been starting rookie Matt Shaw at the hot corner, and while he is playing elite defense, the bat hasn’t come around just yet. Suárez would be a great rental for Chicago.

The Yankees have had second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. manning third base, but his defensive struggles along with Oswald Peraza and Oswaldo Cabrera’s all-around struggles create a problem for New York.

Suárez would be a great addition to any team but look for these two contenders to make a push for the 2018 All-Star.
