There are a lot of rumors circulating around the Arizona Diamondbacks this MLB offseason, but so far, they've just made a couple pitching moves.
One of the new bits of chatter this week involved the Diamondbacks being involved on free agent third baseman Alex Bregman.
The likelihood of them actually signing Bregman, though? Not great.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reported Thursday that it's probably time to pump the brakes on that a bit.
"Sources believe that Arizona is a long-shot to sign the three-time All-Star," Feinsand writes.

He indicated that Bregman wants a five-year deal worth more than the ones signed by Pete Alonso ($155M) and Kyle Schwarber ($150M).
"The Diamondbacks have been focused on strengthening their pitching staff, bringing back Merrill Kelly and adding Michael Soroka this offseason," Feinsand writes. "Given the prices of starting pitching this winter, they could look to move Ketel Marte in a deal for a controllable arm, then sign Bregman to bolster the lineup, though other clubs will surely be competing for Bregman’s services."
Feinsand quotes one executive who says he doesn't "see Arizona getting Bregman when all is said and done."
The more popular Bregman rumored landing spots have been the Chicago Cubs, the Detroit Tigers or a return to the Boston Red Sox.
But Arizona has been known to make a surprise splash once in a while. Maybe they've still got a chance here.
