What is the Masters purse for 2019? List of payouts, how much money the winner makes image

Winning a tournament is always beneficial to a golfer's bank account.

So you can imagine a victory at the Masters earns the champion a ton of money. But it's not just the first-place finisher who comes away with a large payday. The payouts to everyone up and down the leaderboard are substantial.

Here is how much the Masters champion will make in 2019, as well as the payouts of other finishers and a comparison to the purses at the other three majors.

TIGER TRACKER: Best moments from Tiger Woods' Masters victory

What is the Masters purse for 2019?

The purse for this year's Masters will be $11.5 million, surpassing $11 million, which was the total the last two years. The news comes after the Players Championship raised its purse to a record $12.5 in 2019.

How much money does the winner get?

In addition to the green jacket, the winner of the Masters will get a cool $2,070,000. Patrick Reed made $1,980,000 as last year's champion, and it's not a surprise that with the purse increasing, so does the prize for first place. The winner's share first increased to over $1 million when Tiger Woods won the 2001 Masters. For the first nine years of the tournament, the champion took home only $1,500.

The Masters champ will get more money than the winner of any major last year. The $2 million prize for winning the U.S. Open was the highest in 2018.

What are the Masters payouts?

Tiger Woods will take home over $2 million for winning the Masters. While nobody will claim the entirety of the $1 million-plus second place payout, a trio of runner-ups will still get paid nicely. Part of the reason why the Masters has such high payouts even further down the list of finishers is because of its smaller field compared to the other majors and most other PGA Tour tournaments.
