The U.S. Open returns to its favorite venue for its 2025 iteration — the ornate, if slightly misshapen, Oakmont Country Club in Plum, Penns.
The site has seen its fair share of epics, hosting nine contests across its rolling hills.
Designated an official national historic landmark by the United States government, Oakmont was initially erected in 1904. Famed course architects Tom Fazio and Gil Hanse served up facelifts on the iconic pastures in the past decade, breathing life into a site like few others in the American golf landscape.

The most recent entry into the list of Oakmont U.S. Open lore came in 2016 when Dustin Johnson downed all comers en route to a three-stroke win.
Who will hoist the sterling silver trophy this time around? Only time will tell. Regardless, what happens on Thursday and Friday — the first two rounds of tournament play — should play a major role in figuring it out.
