Scottie Scheffler gets off to silly start at The American Express to open his new season image

It's Scottie Scheffler's world and we're all just living in it.

Would the best golfer on the planet need to shake off any rust for his first official goal tournament of the new PGA Tour season? LOL, not at all.

Scheffler teed it up Thursday at The American Express tournament in La Quinta, California.

The event is split between multiple courses, and Scheffler's first round was at La Quinta Country Club.

And, well, it couldn't contain him.

Scheffler's first nine looked like this:

  • Birdie 3
  • Birdie 3
  • Par 3
  • Birdie 3
  • Birdie 4
  • Birdie 4
  • Par 3
  • Birdie 3
  • Par 4

That works out to a 6-under 30 on the 36-par front-9.

Many of these early-season events work out to be quite friendly for golfers and their scoring, but still. Scottie could've taken it easy on his competitors for a while.

Nope. Scheffler is too good. Of course he's off and running at full speed already.
