Scottie Scheffler established himself as a solid golfer during the 2021 PGA Tour season. It was just his second at the PGA Tour level, but he made 21 of 24 cuts and earned top-10 finishes at both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.
Scheffler was certainly beginning to show promise and had risen to become the 12th-ranked player in the world entering the 2022 season. It was expected that he would be routinely in contention at PGA Tour events and he would have a chance to earn his first victory.
Suffice to say, Scheffler has exceeded even the loftiest projections for him entering the season.
Scheffler earned not only his first PGA Tour win but also his first major victory in 2022. He tacked on a couple more wins and managed to fly up the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) thanks to his top-shelf performance.
Now, Scheffler is the No. 1 player in the world and seems poised to remain in that spot for quite some time. He also broke a record for the most earnings in a single PGA Tour season by virtue of his T-2 finish at the 2022 U.S. Open.

Scottie Scheffler 2022 results
Scheffler has posted one of the best seasons in recent PGA Tour history in 2022. He earned his first win in a playoff at the Phoenix Open back in February, and that kickstarted a red-hot streak that propelled him up to his current world No. 1 ranking.
Just a few weeks after winning the Phoenix Open, Scheffler logged his second victory in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. A couple of weeks later, he beat Kevin Kisner in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play after finishing runner-up in the event last year. That gave him three wins for the year.
