Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray fantasy injury tips on replacing star QBs in Week 6 starting lineups image

The injury news for Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray isn't good.

Neither of them practiced on Thursday in the lead-up to Week 6, putting their status in serious doubt to play Sunday.

That's a conundrum for fantasy football managers, because Jackson especially and probably Murray too are both fantasy starters each week.

Jackson is dealing with his nagging hamstring injury that already kept him out for a week.

Murray is managing a foot injury that he sustained in Week 5.

Both only have one day of official practice left this week to get out there and make a case that they should be on the field on Sunday.

If they aren't available, Cooper Rush will start for the Ravens and Jacoby Brissett will start for the Cardinals. Neither of those guys is a viable fantasy starter.

If you don't already have a fantasy backup QB, the waiver wire should still be able to provide.

Possible pickups include (with Yahoo roster percentage listed):

  • Trevor Lawrence (45%)
  • Sam Darnold (34%)
  • Spencer Rattler (6%)

Lawrence would be a priority add in any league he's available in. He's coming off a strong game with rushing scores and is looking at a favorable matchup against the Seahawks.

Darnold could get in a shootout with Lawrence, just like he did last week against Baker Mayfield.

Rattler is the deep league special, a guy who continues to show some efficiency and some rushing ability each week. He's got a good pedigree, and he seems to belong. You could definitely do worse than Rattler in a pinch.

Clearly, it's easier to keep Jackson or Murray in your lineup. But if they miss out, you aren't doomed.
