Lamar Jackson injury fantasy outlook: How Ravens QB's absence affects Zay Flowers, Derrick Henry image

In Week 4, Lamar Jackson left their game against the Kansas City Chiefs early. The Chiefs were dominating the Ravens, but at the time, the score was not out of reach.

It was unknown originally why Jackson left the game; he never appeared to be injured, but it was later reported that he was dealing with a hamstring issue.

John Harbaugh denied answering whether Jackson would have tried to return if the game had been closer.

However, that question was seemingly answered with the most recent update on Jackson, and it's not what fantasy football managers wanted to hear.

Lamar Jackson injury: fantasy outlook

Lamar Jackson timetable for return

Lamar Jackson is expected to miss Week 5 against the Houston Texans following the hamstring injury he sustained in Week 4.

Some reports claim that due to the severity of the hamstring issue, Jackson could miss 2-3 more weeks. This is back-breaking for a Ravens team that has started 1-3.

Cooper Rush will step in as the starter for Week 5 against the Texans, and possibly until Jackson is ready to return.

As for Jackson, of course his fantasy managers should stash him on an Injured Reserve spot or the bench. We'll re-evaluate this if his injury turns out to be a longer-term problem.

Fantasy outlook for Ravens QB Cooper Rush

Under no circumstances should you think about starting Cooper Rush in a single-QB league. The Ravens face the Houston Texans in Week 5, who have been great against opposing quarterbacks as it relates to fantasy.

The Texans have allowed just 11.4 fantasy points per game to the QB position, and simultaneously are middle of the pack at stopping RBs. Expect the Ravens to lean heavily on Derrick Henry in this game.

If you had to play him in a superflex or 2 QB league, then you might get some production from Rush, but even then, I'd look for other options.

How does Derrick Henry's fantasy value look with Lamar Jackson injured?

There’s no doubt that Derrick Henry has disappointed managers, but this is a great time for him to step up.

Don’t forget: Henry has had to be the focal point of an offense before back in Tennessee. Luckily, the Ravens take on a good defense against the QB and average one against the run. The Houston Texans have allowed 20.4 fantasy points per game to the RB position.

Henry was never not going to be in your lineups, but let this be a confidence boost.

How does Zay Flowers' fantasy value look with Lamar Jackson injured?

The more important question here is what was Zay Flowers' fantasy value with Lamar Jackson? Because there was nothing outstanding with Jackson.

Flowers is the WR16 overall through 4 weeks, which is not bad. There is some needed context to this, however, because Flowers scored 28.1 fantasy points in Week 1 and has not surpassed 15 fantasy points since then.

If you must play him, you have to hope the Ravens draw up some easy passes for Rush that go to Flowers. Otherwise, there are better options out there.

Fantasy tips for more Ravens fantasy players

TE Mark Andrews

As someone who has been out on Mark Andrews all season long, Rush becoming the QB does not all of a sudden change that.

What can be said is that sometimes we see backup QBs favor the TE position because they offer a safer target.

However, much like Zay Flowers, if you have better options, there's no reason to play Andrews.

WRs Rashod Bateman and DeAndre Hopkins & TE Isaiah Likely

Bateman and Likely were both guys who weren't seeing lineups with Lamar Jackson healthy. Playing them with Cooper Rush feels like the ultimate force play.

Likely did not even log a target in his season debut last week, and Bateman has scored below 3 points in 3 of his 4 games to start the season. Hopkins has just 6 catches this year but has found the end zone 2 TDs. been hidden by many touchdown

In super deep leagues, maybe you start Bateman for a hopeful touchdown (same for Hopkins), but there is truly no reason to start Likely.

RB Justice Hill

Rush's starting gig might actually mean more receiving work for Ravens RB Justice Hill, who has already been a solid complement to Henry in spurts of work. More of these pass-happy catch-up game flows may see Hill's name called more often.
