Trades are one of the toughest things to manage when it comes to fantasy football. It can be nerve-wracking parting ways with a player this early, especially when you believed in him at one point during the draft.
However, the best fantasy players take these risks in the name of upside and value. Taking advantage of discounts after poor weeks is one of the best ways to buy low on an elite player.
Here are some of our favorite buys and sells, as well as players we believe you should hold onto.

Week 2 fantasy trade targets to buy
Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
While it is highly unlikely that you will be able to get the manager who owns Ja'Marr Chase to give him to you, it's not impossible after his Week 1 performance.
Chase was awful in Week 1; even a bad Chase game is usually fine, but this fantasy performance was terrible.

He had 3 times more fantasy points than Ja'Marr Chase todaypic.twitter.com/1na5LbBjsY
He was targeted a mere 5 times throughout the entire game against the Browns. Chase caught two of those for 26 yards, and that was all she wrote.
Chase finished as the WR74, and some managers may be annoyed enough to make an irrational decision. Chase will be fine, you can be certain about that, so why not try to get him at a discount?
Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions
Since the Detroit Lions lost offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, the coverage around this offense has been nothing but negative. Now, after the Week 1 performance against the Packers, people are ready to count the Lions out.
Amon-Ra St. Brown was not immune to this lackluster offense; he, too, struggled to get going, and it hurt his fantasy score. St. Brown caught 4 passes for 45 yards, not even a good performance in PPR leagues.
With this, everyone is ready to be done with the Lions, and this could allow you to get St. Brown for a cheap price. This really goes for every Lions offensive player, but it would be harder to acquire Jahmyr Gibbs, and Jameson Williams is not that interesting.
A.J. Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
This is the hardest one to convince yourself is a good idea because the A.J. Brown manager would probably say yes to a trade. Having WRs in this Eagles offense is the complete opposite of fun. But then you remember we are talking about such a prolific WR.
Brown is one of the more talented WRs in the entire NFL. We've seen what he can do when used to his fullest potential. The issue is that Philadelphia does not need to throw the ball to win football games.
Brown was targeted 1 time and caught the pass for 8 yards. The worst part might be that his only target came with less than 2 minutes to go in the game. The Eagles seem uninterested in using their alpha WR. Some are suggesting that Brown's hamstring issue has to be the reason behind this.
Interesting development on #Eagles WR A.J. Brown from Thursday night.@ScottBarrettDFB says that last night was the first time since at least 2022 where AJ did not win on a SINGLE route (0% win rate). With all this being said, Receivers like Browm usually get vocal when they are not a part of the game plan. You can most likely get Brown for a high-end bench player.

Week 2 fantasy players to sell in a trade
Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
From the outside, Breece Hall had a good Week 1 with decent fantasy output. However, if you look closer, there are a lot of red flags.
This offseason, the Jets talked nonstop about how they were going to get Braelon Allen the ball more, and this caused Hall owners to panic. But it was ok because the one thing Hall did better than Allen was receiving.
In Week 1, Hall only ran 8 total routes and was targeted on half of them. Most of the targets when the Jets decided to throw went to Garrett Wilson. The Jets also had 4 goal-line rush attempts, and Hall only got one of them.

Most of his points came from long runs, which aren't sustainable and hard to predict. This is a tough one, as a Hall manager myself, I'm holding him, but there is clearly a case to sell him while you can.
Dylan Sampson, RB, Cleveland Browns
It's not necessarily surprising that Dylan Sampson was getting work with the current state of the Cleveland Browns backfield. But wow, did he look great, most notably in the receiving game.
Sampson had 20 total opportunities in Week 1, but the real volume came from the passing. He received 8 targets and caught all 8 of them for 64 yards. Sampson absolutely crushed in PPR formats.
The big uncertainty is when Quinshon Judkins is going to be able to play. It is being reported that Judkins could return as early as Week 2, and if that happens, it's best to move Sampson while he has such value.
Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Indianapolis Colts
Everything went right for the Colts in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins. Daniel Jones was sensational, and most of the Colts' offensive weapons benefited from it.
Pittman caught 6 balls for 80 yards and a touchdown. Jones targeted Pittman 8 times throughout the opening game, building a true connection. The biggest concern is whether the Colts will operate at this level offensively again.
There is a beyond massive sample size of Jones playing the QB position poorly. It's hard to tell if the stats that came out of that game are because the Colts are good, or if the Dolphins are that bad.
This fantasy performance for Pittman is his ceiling, so that's why it could be wise to ship him now for another option with more upside.

Week 2 fantasy trade targets to hold
Omarion Hampton, RB, LA Chargers
All offseason, there was nothing but hype for the rookie RB out of North Carolina. Now, after just one week into the season, the frustration with Omarion Hampton feels extreme.
Many wanted the backfield to just belong to Hampton, but Najee Harris was able to get cleared the play before the season started. Then Week 1 happens, and let's face it, Hampton had a fairly disappointing fantasy performance.
However, this back still offers tremendous upside. Hampton led the backfield with 17 total touches, and he out-touched Harris by 15.
The Week 1 Bellcow Report is here, and Christian McCaffrey is back on top where he belongs!

> Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton already at 91% and 86% of backfield XFP is great to see
> Bucky Irving at a 79% XFP share is also huge! pic.twitter.com/9vfuOlCsRo
It's hard to ignore that the matchup was not great either. The Chiefs are such a tough team to run the football well against. There is no reason to give up on such a talented rookie this early; you must hold Hampton.
Emeka Egbuka, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
An experienced manager would know how valuable a player like Emeka Egbuka is in fantasy football. This is more so to reiterate to the more casual player that Egbuka is a league winner in 2025.
There's been a bit of discussion on whether selling high on Egbuka is a good idea. This comes after Egbuka's phenomenal outing in Week 1, where he hauled in two touchdowns. There is also some concern that Egbuka's role is only large because of the injuries that riddle the Buccaneers' receiving room. More specifically, Jalen McMillan is on IR, and Chris Godwin is not expected to play until Week 5.
The Bucs drafted Egbuka with the 19th overall pick in the NFL Draft. He is not some random WR who is just so happening to get snaps. Tampa Bay believed in him, and if he balls out for these next 3 weeks before Godwin returns, the Bucs are not going to take away this role from him.
George Pickens, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Another disappointing Week 1 from a WR many were high on coming into this season. Overall, it was a tough debut for George Pickens in a Dallas Cowboys jersey. But there are plenty of positives to take away from this game as it relates to fantasy football.
Pickens led the entire game in routes run with 33. He had two great opportunities for massive points, but was interfered with and drew a penalty. If he had been able to haul in one of those two, he would've had a much better night.
The sheer number of times the Cowboys throw per game should be the sole reason you keep Pickens on your squad. The upside in this passing game is too large to sell.
