Top Fantasy Players Week 2: Historic, wild Sunday features big days from ARSB, Nabers, Chase image

NFL Week 2 was sensational on every level, not just as it relates to fantasy football.

Matchups such as the Dallas Cowboys vs the New York Giants will go down as an all-time great. We were given back-and-forth affairs, such as the New England Patriots vs the Miami Dolphins. Then there were some absolute beatdowns, like the Detroit Lions dropping 52 points on the Chicago Bears.

All of this, of course, contributed to some outstanding fantasy performances. Truly, if you had some of these players, they without a doubt carried you to a victory in Week 2.

Here are the best overall fantasy finishes from Week 2 at each position.

Note: We're using FantasyPros data (default PPR scoring) to create these rankings of weekly top fantasy performers.

Top fantasy QB scorers: Week 2

1. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (34)
2. Russell Wilson, New York Giants (31.3)
T-3. Drake Maye, New England Patriots (26.3)
T-3. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (26.3)
T-5. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (23.1)
T-5. Patrick Mahomes II, Kansas City Chiefs (23.1)

If Russell Wilson stays the Giants starter (which he should), we can expect more games like this from him. The Giants are never going to up so big that they eliminate their pass attack. Something hopefully clicked in Wilson's mind that he has one of the best WRs in football on his team. The moon ball we've all been accustomed to looked like it was in full effect in Week 2.

Patrick Mahomes was looked at as a must-avoid player in fantasy football drafts. However, with the current state of the Chiefs' offense, Mahomes has had to play hero in these first two games. Mahomes has more rushing yards than any other QB in the NFL. Yes, more than Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, and Jayden Daniels. If this keeps up, Mahomes is going to finish the QB5 or better in 2025.

Top fantasy RB scorers: Week 2

1. Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts (29.5)
2. James Cook, Buffalo Bills (26.5)
3. De'Von Achane, Miami Dolphins (26.2)
4. Javonte Williams, Dallas Cowboys (25)
5. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers (22.7)

James Cook is going to be a problem this season in fantasy football. After all the offseason drama with the contract negotiations and fear of regression, we were all wrong about Cook. Through two games, Cook has 3 rushing TDs and hasn't finished worse than the RB4.

Any doubt that Javonte Williams is one of the steals of the fantasy season can be put to rest.

In Week 1, it was hard to know if he'd just be a touchdown merchant, and that's where all his fantasy production would come from. But Williams was targeted 6 times in Week 2 and caught 6 of those passes. He has not finished lower than the RB5 and is going to be the reason people win their league if he's their RB2.

Top fantasy WR scorers: Week 2

1. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions (39.2)
2. Malik Nabers, New York Giants (37.7)
3. Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals (36.5)
4. Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears (31.8)
5. Wan'Dale Robinson, New York Giants (28.2)

All 3 of the WRs at the top are not surprising. It's important to mention that Amon-Ra St. Brown should see no change at QB barring an injury to Jared Goff. However, Ja'Marr Chase will be without Joe Burrow for the foreseeable future, and Malik Nabers might see a QB change that would potentially hurt his production.

Both Wan'Dale Robinson and Rome Odunze had their best fantasy finishes of their career. They're both exciting options in their offense; however, you should not expect this type of production regularly.

Top fantasy TE scorers: Week 2

1. Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers (24.4)
2. Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders (18.4)
3. Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys (16.8)
4. Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints (15.9)
5. Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals (13.8)

With the injury to Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft could be a legit TE5 or better every week. Jordan Love is comfortable with Kraft, and it showed on TNF in Week 2.

Juwa Johnson is the lowest rostered TE on this list, yet this is his second week in a row in the top five. However, he wasn't just on this list for Week 1; he was the overall TE1 last week. At just 44% rostered, Johnson is a must-target if he's on your waiver wire.

Top fantasy D/ST scorers: Week 2

1. Atlanta Falcons (21)
2. Baltimore Ravens (15)
3. Seattle Seahawks (14)
T-4. Arizona Cardinals (13)
T-4. New England Patriots (13)

The Atlanta Falcons suffocated the Minnesota Vikings on SNF. The Falcons had as many sacks as they did points allowed, as well as forced 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles.

The thing that will continue to be reiterated is that these defenses did not finish D/ST5 or better because they're a top 5 defense. They did so because they had favorable matchups. Do not play a D/ST every week because they're good in real life; this is fantasy football.
