Before going into a fantasy football auction (or salary cap) draft, it's important to know how you want to address the running back position. There's no doubt you'll have to spend a large portion of your budget if you want an early guy such as Bijan Robinson or Saquon Barkley.
By no means do you have to draft a RB early, but you need to have a general plan. There are always options much later for a cheaper price that can be a serviceable back or even a league winner.
Identifying who you like later at a value is crucial if you don't spend your budget on an elite RB early.
Last year you could've gotten Chase Brown for prices close to $10 and Bucky Irving for $2. Imagine grabbing those types of backs after you spend a chunk of your budget for elite options at other positions.
Even if you don't want one of the top dogs early, there is strategy in choosing them early to auction. By doing this, you can force your league mates into spending high amounts of their budget early and you might get a discount on some early wide receivers.
